Commuting and accommodation benefit

If you are registered as unemployed and are participating in a service provided by the Unemployment Insurance Fund, you are entitled to commuting and accommodation benefits.

This benefit will be paid if you participate in any of the following services:

  • career counselling
  • coaching
  • job search workshop
  • job club
  • labour market training
  • support for obtaining qualifications
  • work placement
  • work practice
  • counselling services (debt counselling, psychological counselling, addiction counselling)
  • community work
  • supported employment service
  • peer support
  • work rehabilitation (everyone, not just people who have registered as unemployed, can receive support)

Benefits are not paid for days during which the person did not participate in the service. The grant will be transferred to your bank account (the details of which you submitted) once, during the month following your participation in the service.

The calculation of commuting and accommodation benefits is based on the shortest distance between the address of your actual place of residence (listed in the information system of the Unemployment Insurance Fund) and the place where the service is provided. The commuting and accommodation benefit is 10 cents per km, but no more than 26 euros per day. This benefit is paid if the commuting distance is at least 500 meters (one way of a return trip).
