Assignment of unemployment allowance

We will decide whether or not to grant you unemployment allowance within ten working days of the submission of a valid application.

Unemployment allowance is granted from the 8th day after the date of submission of the application for unemployment allowance, but not earlier than the 8th day of unemployment. If you were studying before becoming unemployed and applied for unemployment allowance on the basis of your studies, you will be granted unemployment allowance from the 61st day after you submit your application.

Unemployment allowance is granted for up to 270 days. If your last employment ended on the grounds mentioned in clauses § 88(1)(3) to (8) of the Employment Contracts Act or if you were dismissed for disciplinary offences, unemployment allowance is granted for up to 210 days.

If you have less than 180 days from the end of your unemployment benefit period until you reach the old-age pension, the unemployment benefit is paid until you reach the old-age pension.

If you are receiving unemployment insurance benefit, you are not entitled to unemployment allowance at the same time. Unemployment allowance and unemployment insurance benefit are paid for a total of up to 270 days.

If your unemployment allowance is stopped before the deadline, but you have been unemployed again within 12 months of your last day of unemployment and you qualify for unemployment allowance, you will be awarded unemployment allowance from the day you submit your claim (but not earlier than the day of unemployment).
